Date and time
Location
Northwest Health Foundation
221 Northwest 2nd Avenue #300 Portland, OR 97209Description
Northwest Health Foundation, the Nonprofit Association of Oregon and the Coalition of Communities of Color have invited The Campaign Workshop to share their expertise in crafting successful advocacy campaigns.
Who should come
Community members, organizers, coordinators and others who are interested in implementing an advocacy campaign. This isn't a training for folks who are thinking about whether to do advocacy. You should know that you and/or your organization are committed to it. 501(c)3, 501(c)4, political and unincorporated/informal organizations are all welcome.
What the training will cover
Writing a Campaign Plan. Writing a thorough campaign plan is a crucial step at the outset of any campaign, including advocacy work. We’ll take trainees through the process of creating a plan, including how to develop a strategic summary, determine campaign structure and outline a budget. This training will show trainees how to create an effective, detailed campaign plan that will lead them to victory while also pursuing long-term organizational goals.
Messaging. A clear, focused message is a key component of any successful advocacy strategy. In this section we teach participants how to develop a concise message and how to customize that message for a variety of targets, including legislators, members, constituents, donors, and the media. The campaign’s message is something that everyone within an advocacy organization must understand and be able to deliver, and we will ensure that the training and exercises prepare participants to do just that.
Goal Setting. Setting goals for your advocacy campaign is an important part of staying organized, winning and achieving organizational goals that transcend a particular issue campaign. In this session, we’ll discuss setting primary and secondary goals. Specifically, we’ll walk trainees through the process of setting goals that will help to ensure that their campaigns yield long-term benefits, like increased grassroots capacity and regular donors.
Part II. In Feb or March 2016, The Campaign Workshop will return for a second training, which will cover Campaign Tactics, Grassroots Tactics & Digital Integration.

Attendance is limited
You may register up to two people from your organization. If we have more interest than we can accomodate, we may need you to send just one representative. And don't go trying to sneak in extra folks. After all, it'd be embarassing for them to have them called out at the training and have to leave in front of everyone.
Is my registration/ticket transferrable and editable?
Yes. You can edit your registration to send someone in your stead.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Nah. Save the paper!
